The River Why by David James Duncan - Goodreads ~ There is a good book hidden inside The River Why, though I couldn't call it a good book. It's a bit of a mess, all over the map. In the afterword the author says some publishers wanted to whittle it down. Sometimes the publishers are right! Some parts are really funny, namely the sections about his parents and upbringing.
